Stagnant water in dirty pools and other forms of standing water create sources for mosquitos to breed in the water. If these should hatch off they can be very annoying to you and your neighbors. Some of them may be of a species that can carry diseases such as Encephalitis or West Nile Virus.
These mosquitoes will be eliminated if you will filter and chlorinate or drain your pool, If you do not plan to chlorinate or drain the pool, a Tehama County Mosquito and Vector Control District technician can supply a few mosquito fish or treat it to eliminate your mosquito problem.
Please call the District office at 527-1676 if you have any questions regarding this so we can help you prevent a mosquito problem.
